What Portrait Photography Is

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

A portrait, also called a portraiture, is a picture that centers on a person or small group’s facial expression while they are in a still position. The person or group’s personalities, moods & likeness emerge out. Portrait photography doesn’t always have to be just a face inside a photo; the entire body and the background can be included also. The person or group is usually looking straight into the camera in a portrait photograph.

Unlike other styles of photography, portrait photography doesn’t usually include professionals. Some examples of portrait photography are graduations, special events, and weddings and are usually displayed in private homes. Many are done on studio with several settings to select from.

A Bit of History

Ever since the camera was invented people have been using portrait photography. It was, and is more inexpensive way then having your portrait painted & it is a more available method. People would sit against a background & were lit with natural light from a window. With technology evolving photographers have the ability to take pictures with less exposure time giving them more freedom to move around & create new styles of portrait photography.

How To Plan A Stress-Free Wedding Day

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Certain planning is important preceding your wedding so that it turns out perfectly. A wedding day must only carry sweet memories for the couple, so anything that can ruin the day should be handled properly before the event. It involves a lot of detail that people in charge of the function are always feeling jittery that something might go bad. However, there are things like pre-wedding photography sessions that you can go to can reduce the anxiety somewhat.

Pre-wedding photography is one thing that every couple must think about before deciding a photographer for the big day. Taking a chance with pictures of perhaps the most momentous day in your life is never a prudent choice as you are going to invoke your wedding day memories through these photographs only. Thus, a pre-wedding photography session is required so that you are conscious of what to expect from the photographer & can check his work beforehand.

A relaxing, yet good looking wedding gown will also help you feel confident & stress free on your wedding day, and therefore its choice should be made well in advance. A bulky gown with yards of pleated silk can cause much discomfort for the bride during outdoor weddings, and hence the wedding dress selection must be made as per the location.

Getting The Best Shots At An Event

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Professional event photography is a booming career. People who cover events like weddings, conferences, sports events, award functions etc. are called event photographers.

It is commonly believed that event photography is a straightforward job, wherein all a person has to do is arrive at the event and keep clicking photographs once in a while. However, this is not right at all. An event photographer must have some key skills to excel at his job, which he/she can hone through a variety of courses available for this objective.

From the outside you may believe that as the photographer runs around just clicking that there is no process in their photography. At an event there is an aim in place that must be met. Getting a large extended run of great high quality pictures needs skill and a great eye. Being quick off the mark is a must to capture all those unexpected shots.

Having an imaginative trait is a prerequisite for an event photographer and he should be able to familiarize with the tone of the occasion. For instance, a wedding has to be covered in a completely different manner than a sports event. Therefore, the photographer must have a knack of capturing the mood of an event in his pictures.
